Location: Delaware Valley

Trial Name

Noninvasive Measurement of Pulmonary Dysfunction in Children With Cerebral Palsy

What is the trial about?

We would like to study the changes in breathing function due to the progression of cerebral palsy patients, using the pneuRIP device. The pneuRIP device is an investigational device (not approved by the FDA) that uses bands across the chest and abdomen to measure how well your child is breathing.

Who can participate?

Children between the ages of 5-17 years, diagnosed with CP GMFCS levels IV and V.

What is involved?

The total duration of the study is 2 years and we would like to enroll your child for that duration. The entire experiment will last about 10 minutes per patient per visit. We will take measurements every clinic visit for the duration of the study. This experiment will be done only during your child鈥檚 routine visit or if your child has a sick visit to the hospital.聽

We will measure end tidal CO2 by placing a sensor close to the nose. We will also measure blood oxygen level by placing a fingertip sensor.
