Get to Know Me

Dr. Wojciech Ratajczak has dedicated his career to take care of critically ill children in the intensive care unit. During that time he also developed a passion for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. To that end, he pursued advanced training in cardiac critical care medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital before joining ÌÇÐÄVlog Heart Center at ÌÇÐÄVlog/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Why I Treat Children

Although I moved around a fair amount — I am originally Polish, grew up in Canada and completed most of my medical training in the United States — I was always confident that I wanted to work with children in a medical setting. I have a medically fragile sibling and growing up seeing her in and out of the hospital inspired me to work in pediatrics. I have found that children are able to remain playful and happy even when facing serious medical issues. I find their resilience and joy extremely motivating as a physician.

What I'm Passionate About

The journey of a patient with congenital or acquired heart disease is full of challenges. I am committed to deliver the best evidence-based care in a family-centered environment. I’m passionate about caring for pre- and post-operative cardiac patients to the best of my abilities, while surrounded by a highly motivated and dedicated team.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I strive to provide excellent clinical and compassionate care to our patients and their families. I believe exceptional care is provided through a multidisciplinary team approach for our highly complex patient population.
