Get to Know Me
I’ve lived in Florida for more than 20 years, where I began my career as a registered nurse on the pediatric floor of a hospital. I’ve been at my current pediatrics office since 2010 — and I’m now a certified pediatric nurse practitioner and lactation counselor. My husband and I have two children. We love spending family time together, especially sporting events and anything outdoors.
Why I Treat Children
I’m originally from southern California, and I moved around quite a bit as I grew up. But I always knew I wanted to work with children. I started off working with kids in the hospital where they are often acutely ill. The hospital setting helped me realize I might enjoy caring for kids in the outpatient world. By working in a pediatrician’s office I’m able to be more involved in a child’s life, not just taking care of them when they’re sick, but also offering anticipatory guidance and health maintenance at their well-child checkups. I enjoy listening to parents and answering any questions they may have. It’s wonderful to start taking care of a child when they’re a newborn all the way to their adolescent years — and being there for their parents along that journey.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about breastfeeding. Along with being a certified pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP), I am also a certified lactation counselor (CLC). I offer lactation consults for ÌÇÐÄVlog patients in the office. I love meeting with mothers and their newborns and helping them with positioning and latching to make the breastfeeding journey as comfortable as possible. Breastfeeding takes time and effort and I love to offer support and education. Whenever mothers have questions or concerns along the way, I’m there to offer assistance, from changing breastfeeding needs to questions about pumping when mothers go back to work.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I have a positive attitude and smile often. I try to make every child’s visit as comfortable as possible, and explain everything to both the parents and the child every step of the way.
