����Vlog Children's Hospital, Florida (NCHFL )is a state-of-the-art, freestanding tertiary care facility for children. The hospital is part of ����Vlog Children’s Health, a nonprofit organization funded by the ����Vlog Foundation. The hospital is currently operating 135 inpatient beds serving pediatric patients from birth to 18 years. There are more than 180 pediatric medical and surgical faculty physicians at NCHFL caring for an incredibly medically vulnerable and diverse patient population across Central Florida. In addition, there are 36 categorical pediatric residents invested in the care of our patients. 

Additionally, ����Vlog operates more than 20 primary care medical homes across our region. NCHFL is the site for pediatric endocrinology fellowship experience where pediatric endocrine fellows will work alongside board-certified pediatric endocrinologists in the care of children. The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is comprised of 5 pediatric endocrinologists and 3 nurse practitioners, in addition to certified diabetes educators, registered dieticians and a social worker.

The population served by the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at NCHFL is incredibly diverse in age, acuity, physiology, underlying medical disease and complexity of care. It is also robust, with children who live with chronic conditions including technology dependence. On a daily basis in our division, more than 70% of the children served are covered by Medicaid. During the academic year July 2021–June 2022, the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology saw 6,694 unique patients with various endocrine disorders in the ambulatory clinics and consulted on 544 patients on the inpatient side.

In the specialized environment that ����Vlog offers, safe and effective patient care with a family-centered approach requires multidisciplinary collaboration among a full spectrum of pediatric subspecialists, both medical and surgical. In addition to the physician collaboration, the pediatric endocrinology team has a robust coordination of care with the entire interprofessional team to meet each individual patient’s health care and psychosocial needs. Additional personnel who comprise the larger interprofessional team at NCHFL pediatric endocrinology include certified diabetes educators, endocrine nurses, registered dieticians, mental health professionals, social workers and growth hormone coordinators. The presence of this robust interprofessional team ensures maximal patient interface, critical thinking and medical decision making for the pediatric endocrine fellow, while promoting progressive autonomy and enhancing interprofessional relationships critical for successful patient outcomes in the outpatient as well as inpatient arenas. The Pediatric Endocrine Division was ranked in the “U.S. News &World Report” top 50 programs in the United States in 2022.

Throughout their experience at NCHFL, pediatric endocrine fellows will work collaboratively with pediatric resident physicians from the core pediatric program. Fellows will be encouraged to contribute to the residency educational experience through didactic teaching, interprofessional simulation workshops, quality improvement initiatives, feedback sessions and curricular development. Fellows will assume a supervisory role with the resident physicians, effectively taking on the responsibilities of a pediatric endocrine attending physician but with supervision of a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist. Attending faculty will provide graduated autonomy to the fellow physicians while ensuring acquisition of critical knowledge and demonstration of clinical competency within a culture of evidence-based learning.

The Department of Pediatrics faculty is committed to the clinical care-teaching-research triad necessary for excellence in the graduate medical education arena. Seven additional departments at NCHFL (Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Anesthesia, Cardiovascular Services, Orthopedic Surgery and Maternal Fetal Medicine) are invested in the clinical learning environment, unanimously providing educational and scholarship opportunities to our residents and fellows. Physician faculty members across the institution maintain a keen awareness in ensuring that meaningful opportunities to learn and demonstrate acquisition and application of critical knowledge are present, and that a culture of learning and support for fellows and residents is maintained.

As an institution, NCHFL has received national recognition for its quality, safety  and technology infrastructure, as evidenced by receiving the Leapfrog Group Award 5 times since opening its doors. Furthermore, NCHFL has made the "Most Wired" list on multiple occasions and has been designated as a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Stage 7 organization, which acknowledges the highest level of achievement awarded to an organization in regard to improving patient safety, increasing patient satisfaction, support of the clinical teams and ensuring data security.

Our ten-year- “young” hospital is located in Orlando’s Lake Nona Medical City, a perfect fit for both young, single professionals and families alike, with access to outdoor activities, family entertainment and nightlife.
